Nothing like opening the kitchen cabinets and finding them full of mouse poop, it rained and the roof in the kitchen leaked and our kitchen was full of water, the air conditioner could not keep up and it sounded like a train inside the cabin. The mattresses are all about 30 years old and roll up like a hotdog bun when you lay on them. Over all the cabin was disgusting and the owner was completely rude. I.E. We asked for more toilet paper and he wanted to charge us! When you have 5 people in a cabin for 4 days you will need more then 2 rolls. Also the gas stoves knobs did not work so we had to turn the gas off at the tank outside to keep the cabin from filing up with gas. Over all it was dirty, unsafe, uncomfortable, and the owner was extremely rude.

Not to be confused with Hartford Beach State Park, which is a very well taken care of place.

Air conditioner quit working first night. Of the cabins that we rented, 2 we're out of propane so we couldn't use the stove. The place hasn't had a dimes worth of maintenance put into it in 10 years.

You have been warned.... this place is disgusting and very disappointing. Once we got past the peeling paint and rotting siding, we opened the door to a musty old basement smell. Window air conditioners have the knobs missing and you can't run them at night because they sound like a gremlin caught in a food processor. When we told the owner the dishes in the rental were dirty he replied with "we are too busy with the resturant to worry about the dishes in the rentals" and "thats just seasoned from cooking fish on it." The beach is surrounded by huge chunks of old foundations with metal rebar sticking out of them. The dock boards are about to let go. The food in the "store" is mostly expired. They have a pontoon for rent but don't seem to want to make any money because they are so hesitent (lazy?) to get it out. There are no microwaves. No towels. No brooms. No locks on front door. There was no personable service. Again, do not stay here.

Had a great experience here! It's not a 5 star hotel, it's a cabin resort. Not sure what everyone is complaining about, but we had a blast. We rented 3 cabins at the end of August, had 22 people there (9 kids, ages 1-10 and 13 adults that acted like kids) and it accommodated us nicely. I've been to worst cabins that cost much more in the middle of nowhere with a bad fishery. The resort is very convenient next to the state park, which kept us busy. The state park had a beach, playground, volleyball court, and much more that we didn't have time to explore. I brought my boat there and docked it at the resort during the day, which made it easy when we wanted to fishing. We were also able to catch a bunch of jumbo perch and white bass right off the dock. We are definitely looking forward to our next visit, hopefully early summer this time.

Had lunch here. Quiet.. peaceful. The menu is very limited. All grill or deep fried.
